My new car! 2005 Mazdaspeed MX-5 (known to some as a Miata). Its Lava Orange Mica paint with the Grand Touring package (leather interior and cloth top). Mazdaspeed models come with : Racing Hart 17 inch wheels, turbocharged and intercooled DOHC 16 valve 1.8 liter four cylinder engine, specially tuned suspension, shot-peened gearset in the six-speed manual transmission, heavy-duty clutch, torque-sensing limited slip differential, special badging and a unique-to-this-model aggressive but tasteful aero package.
It may be my first MX-5 of my own but as a mechanic and a good older brother I have a degree of experience with them from fixing and modding my sisters ‘97(Cloth-glass top, Hard dog M2 sport bar, etc). She had a knack for breaking it so I had to develop a knack for repairing it.
The many :ahem: necessary test drives after fixing it made me a fan of them but what convinced me I had to have one of my own was test driving one at a Rev It Up event where I test drove a ‘04 Mazdaspeed.
I have always driven fun cars: First the 91 CRX Si then four different 240sx’s ranging from 89-92 MY. None of them compared to the shear joy of driving the ‘Speed. I thought I would have to wait to buy a used one after they had a chance to depreciate but a change of profession and a decent wage allowed me to consider getting a loan for my perfect car! And here it is!
